Oxford Brookes University voted best
The UK's The Sunday Times newspaper has awarded Oxford Brookes University (OBU) top new university status in its "good university guide". The guide, which covers all UK institutions, went on to state that OBU was 'indisputably the best modern university' and it offers 'one of the UK's most flexible programmes of study'. ACCA and OBU collaborate on both MBA and Bachelor degree programmes.
Also this month, a graduation ceremony was held for 235 graduates of the ACCA/OBU BSc in Applied Accounting. The BSc has attracted 80,000 students from 160 countries. Over 2,000 individuals from 70 countries have already graduated. It is now the largest accounting degree programme in the world.
This year's ceremony was particularly memorable as Sir David Tweedie was awarded an honorary doctorate from the university. Sir David, who is the Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board, gave a speech to the graduates. Reflecting on ACCA's centenary theme of responsibility, he advised students to: 'Go out from here using the ability and insights this dynamic degree from ACCA and Oxford Brookes has given you. Go out there and make a difference.'
