ACCA marks achievements of Sir David Tweedie
ACCA has awarded honorary membership to Sir David Tweedie, chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board, and created a prize under his name in the Advanced Corporate Reporting paper of its professional qualification.
The awards were conferred on Sir David Tweedie by ACCA President Christopher Forster, at a meeting of the Association's global council.
ACCA president Christopher Forster, said: "Sir David's contribution to the development of the accounting profession is profound and has spanned three decades. His personal drive and commitment has led to the adoption of global standards which underpin financial reporting and investment across today's global markets. I am delighted to be able to honour a true giant of the profession today."
In response, Sir David Tweedie said: "I am very pleased to accept both of these generous awards. ACCA has been a resolute supporter of IFRS and continues to be a strong advocate of global reporting standards. There is still much to be done to achieve the convergence of standards and I look forward to working with ACCA as we move towards this goal."
