ACCA elects Dennis Yeates as President
ACCA elected Dennis Yeates as President at its agm on 18 May. ACCA is the world’s largest and fastest-growing international accountancy body with 110,000 members and 260,000 students in over 170 countries.
Dennis Yeates, Deputy Director of Finance of the Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is the first President from the health sector, which reflects ACCA’s growing strength in that area, with more than 2,000 members working as finance directors, chief executives and operations managers in health trusts and the wider sector both in the UK and internationally.
Dennis Yeates said: "I am honoured to become President and am particularly committed to representing the interests of all our members around the world. ACCA is an externally-facing organisation and our presence in so many countries gives us the chance to engage positively with governments and regulators. I am determined to play my full part in these efforts."
He added: "I also hope that our members in the health sector can take pride in my election. Health is a crucial global issue and ACCA must use its strength and expertise to work with other organisations for the benefit both of our members and the wider public. We will be looking to take a leading public role in this area over the next twelve months."
At today’s agm, Gillian Ball, Finance Director at the University of Birmingham became ACCA Deputy President and Richard Aitken-Davies, chairman of ACCA’s financial reporting committee, was elected Vice President. Eleven positions on Council were filled in the elections, five of which were returning Council members, with six new members.
